Sophia is a Dallas-born & NYC-based folk-rock artist, singer/songwriter, and illustrator. During her formative years in New York, she began collaborating with her now-keyboardist, mixing engineer, & co-producer, Taylor Hurt, who encouraged her to fully embrace her writing. Sophia then met musicians Maya Harrison (lead guitar), Warren Louie (bass), and Cole Palensky (drums) while abroad in France, quickly charming them into playing together at many Parisian jazz venues. After graduating from NYU's vocal performance program, she finally focused her efforts on recording, producing, and releasing songs from the stockpile of music exclusive only to the four walls of her studio apartment and her small fanbase (her parents). Since then, she has had the privilege of playing her original songs alongside her very best friends at notable venues such as Hotel Vegas (South by Southwest), the Granada Theatre, Berlin Under A, & more scattered across NY and TX. ​
Sophia and her band draw on a wide variety of influences, from indie-rock to americana to jazz, allowing her vulnerability as a lyricist to shine through and connect with fellow sensitive souls. Her lyrics aim to tell compelling stories, dip into nostalgia, and repair childhood memories piece by piece. Shackled by self-awareness, her writing shines a spotlight on a her complicated family, her old yellow house, the passing of distant friends, the passage of time, and the onset of anticipatory grief that develops at such an elderly age of 23.
